Health And The Law - Birth Injury
This is a stern warning against any and all types of lawyer scams. As in any scam, they can come in all shapes and sizes. They can come in the form of an email with someone representing themselves as an attorney. They can also come in the form of a disbarred attorney hiding behind a friend s license. Either way, un-savvy individuals are taken advantage of daily because they do not take it upon themselves to stay educated.
The email lawyer scams. There are actually many types of email scams. I could actually spend hundreds of articles writing about just these types of scams. However, this type of email scams specifically involves someone misrepresenting themselves as an attorney, usually to gain credence. I will tell you about the most recent scam email I received. This poor elderly woman is dying of cancer and she wants to donate $15.5 to me. She stated that she knows she doesn t know me but she wants her money to go to the good work of the Lord and humanity . Pretty generous, right? She said all I had to do was email her attorney to work out the details! Well, here s something I noticed. My email account states that the email is from Diane Lynn. However, when hit the show details option on my email account, I noticed that the email address matches the one given for her attorney.
Why anyone would fall for this is beyond me. I m sure some poor, desperate soul will fall for it hook, line, and sinker. The million dollar question: why would a dying woman give a millions of dollars to someone she has never met or heard of? Simple answer: she wouldn t. The scammer is hoping that 1% of the thousands she spammed this email to will respond and that 1 person out of that 1% will follow through successfully. Her goal is basically have access to your bank account information. Once she has that access, it s all over and you will never hear from her again. I realize that this is more of an example of email scams than lawyer scams but I wanted to illustrate this since someone is representing themselves as an attorney so that the scam will simply gain credence.
